Project Transformation Launches New Partnership with Southwestern College, KS
A new partnership with Southwestern College in Winfield, KS will provide year-round interns with an opportunity to become a Graduate Studies Ministry (GSM) fellow and earn one of two master’s degrees from Southwestern College’s Professional Studies Program: a Master of Arts in Specialized Ministry (MASM) or a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS). Classes are taught in 6-week online units. This model provides the opportunity for interns to bring their real life service work with PT into their studies and interact with other students in a wide variety of ministries. Historically, most graduate education has involved the student residing in a university or seminary setting with some opportunity for an internship or practicum. Ths GSM fellows model turns the old way of doing things around and starts with the student in a ministry/service setting and brings their graduate coursework to them online.
How does it work?
1) Individuals who apply and are accepted into one of PT’s year-round service internships may then submit an application for acceptance to Southwestern College’s graduate program. Interns are accepted by PT using a separate application and selection process from Southwestern College. Admission to one of the Masters’ Programs is a separate but coordinated process. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
2) Financial aid is available for the Masters’ Programs and participants are encouraged to pursue scholarships.
3) As a GSM fellow, you have the option of participating Southwestern College’s annual Builders in Ministry week.
4) Courses are offered online in 6-week units and are scheduled by the intern as his/her own pace. GSM fellows will spend an estimated 10-15 hours per week to complete one class.
Apply for one of PT’s one-year internships. The priority deadline for one of our full-time site coordinator positions is April 15, 2012.
