Volunteer
Project Transformation's summer program operates at eight Dallas area sites and one Sherman/Denison area site. The after-school program operates at five Dallas area sites, and we are in need of volunteers to serve with us all year long!
- One-on-one reading volunteers
- Intern dinners at SMU or Austin College
- Family Fun Nights (see below)
- Supply drives (see our wish list)
- Homework assistance and reading with children
- Collecting supplies
- Family Nun Nights (see below)
- Do a special activity one afternoon with the kids - career exposure, a fun game, a special lesson, etc.
Family Fun Nights
Every other month during the school year, we invite the children and families of our programs to our after school sites for dinner. This is usually a theme night (i.e, a luau, hoe down, sock hop, Christmas, etc), and our families, interns and volunteers always have a blast! We invite groups to provide the meals and participate in the fun.
- Prepare dinner and drinks for approximately 50-70 people during the school year and for 150 during the summer, plus the number of volunteers that will be providing the meal. (Numbers vary by site)
- Your group will also need to provide plates, cups, napkins, and utensils.
- Since there is limited access to the stove, please bring the meal prepared.
- Volunteers are invited and encouraged to eat with the families to learn about their experiences in Project Transformation.
- The interns at the site usually pick a theme for the night and decorate and plan activities around the theme. We can give you this information, and the theme can be incorporated into the theme (This is fun to do, but not necessary).
Contact us if there are other ways you might be interested in volunteering your time with our kids and interns -- 214-946-3600. We'll look forward to hearing from you!
